One of my earliest web projects. A website built specifically for the Sega Dreamcast's web browser, allowing users to browse and download custom icons for their Visual Memory Unit (VMU). Originally built as a kid in the early 2000s, the site was lost for over 18 years before being partially recovered from SegaRetro.org's archives in 2019 and brought back to life at dcvmuicons.net.
The rebirth led to a suite of modern VMU tools. VMU Icon Maker is a browser-based editor for creating custom VMU icons — drag and drop images, edit pixel-by-pixel, and generate downloadable icon files ready to load onto real hardware.
Cloud VMU is a cloud-based save server for the Dreamcast VMU, enabling users to back up, manage, and share VMU save data online. Together, these projects keep the Dreamcast homebrew community alive with modern tooling built on decades-old nostalgia.
